Be bear smart as bears come out of hibernation. CDOT starts construction in Pagosa Springs. And the annual Durango Wine Experience returns to Durango. You're watching the Local News Network brought to you by San Juan Regional Medical Center and Tafoya Barrett and Associates. I'm Sadie Smith. Spring has arrived and bears are coming out from hibernation. Bear Smart Durango says we can keep bears out of residential areas by getting rid of attractants, bear-proof your trash can, bring in your bird feeders at night, and use bear deterrents like bear spray or electric fencing. Additional details may be found on the Bear Smart Durango website. CDOT has begun construction in the Pagosa Springs Downtown Business District. The U.S. Highway 160 construction project will replace the asphalt roadway with a new concrete road surface, install new pedestrian crosswalks, and add disability access improvements to sidewalk ramps. Construction is scheduled to last through November, 2026. Downtown parking remains available and sidewalks to businesses remain open. CDOT says drivers could expect delays up to 15 minutes. Check cotrip.org for updates before you travel. The annual Durango Wine Experience returns to Durango April 25th and 26th.
