A low-cost spay and neuter clinic is coming to Ignacio this month, provided by the La Plata County Humane Society. Ignacio Community Library has a variety of craft opportunities this month to get that holiday spirit going (or to make that perfect gift!), and ring in the holiday break with Ignacio Schools’ Bobcat Jingle Jam. Sign up for a low cost spay and neuter clinic from the La Plata Humane Society this month to keep your pets safe and healthy, and curb unwanted litters. Create gifts from the heart, at Ignacio Community Library's Craft Fridays this month, including creating your very own pine cone tree, and the date for the Southern Ute Tribe Runoff election have been announced, and celebrate the start of the Ignacio Holiday break with the Bobcat Jingle Jam. The La Plata County Humane Society will be hosting a low cost spay and neuter clinic on Wednesday, December 13th, at the Southern Ute multipurpose room. The clinic is open to anyone living in the 81137 zip code. Fill out a form online or call LPCHS to sign up for an appointment. A neuter costs $120, and a spay, $150. Petco Love will also be providing free vaccines from 2:00 to 4:00. The VFRCP vaccine will be available for cats, and parvo for dogs. The Southern Ute election board had announced the runoff dates for the tribal council seat, and tribal chairman. The runoff election will be Friday, December 15th from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, at the election office in Ignacio. The tribal council chairman candidates are James M. Olguin, who received 72 votes in the November general election, and Melvin Baker who received 141 votes. The candidates for the tribal council seat are Marty Pinecous, who received 134 votes, and Cedric Chavez, who received 147 votes. Ignacio Community Library is hosting Craft Days on Friday this month, through the 22nd. Each Friday will feature a different craft, or bring one from home. While you are visiting the library, make sure to pick up a pine cone to create your very own pine cone tree, and drop it off by Saturday, December 16th to be included in the pine cone tree contest. Winners will be announced December 29th. Enjoy the sounds of the season with the Bobcat Jingle Jam, featuring performances from the fifth and eighth grade bands and the high school band and choir. The concert will be from 1:00 to 2:30 at Ignacio High School on Wednesday, December 20th. Ignacio's School District Christmas break is December 25th, through January 5th.
