The Ignacio Community Library and Ignacio High School science are co-hosting International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, September 14th, beginning at 7:00 PM at Shoshone Park. The event will include rocket launching, programs on the moon, and the opportunity to observe the moon with both telescopes and binoculars. Join people from all over the world in watching the moon at this family friendly free event. Southern Ute Shared Services has announced the broadband project, installing fiber optic throughout the community, is on track for phase two. Construction is currently taking place along the edge of roadways and sidewalks. The overall project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025 with Ignacio, Sky Ute Casino, and Florida Mesa west to be completed by the end of 2024. The tribe is encouraging residents and businesses to sign up for broadband services now, as federal and state grant funding has enabled the tribe to provide connections at a no upfront installation cost. The project will provide stable, reliable connectivity for the town of Ignacio and surrounding residents, providing essential digital infrastructure with the goal of closing the digital divide on the Southern Ute Reservation. Follow project progress and updates on the Southern Ute tribal communications channels. With school in full swing, Ignacio School District has compiled a handy list of resources for parents and students to stay up to date. Infinite Campus is where parents and guardians can find classes, grades, and attendance, and also where school district communication is done. Class Dojo is for elementary school teachers to communicate with parents and guardians about assignments, homework, and other class happenings. Follow Ignacio's School District on Facebook and Instagram for weekly news and events. You can add the Ignacio School District calendars to your calendar. Never miss another event. For students involved in athletics and clubs, make sure to download the athletics band app to connect with your teams and for parents to stay up to date with practice and travel times. Other great resources for the school year include the bus information page. Make sure that your student is signed up for the correct bus and route for both school and after school activities. Once a month, activity Fridays are offered to all students. Elementary school students can participate in educational fun and community, and tutoring is offered at the middle and high school levels for all students.
