Project Angel Flight for Miller Middle School students is set to come to fruition when students and teachers transfer to the new school building at the end of the month. Our Own Lives, a new non-profit created with the reorganization of Community Connections is hosting a customized employment open house and is looking for local businesses to sign up. And the Durango Kennel Club invites you to sign up for the Fall Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic, September 14th. Hiking in the Southwest means encountering all sorts of wildlife, some less friendly than others. Durango Kennel Club is offering rattlesnake avoidance training this Saturday, September 14th, led by a professional dog trainer, dogs will learn how to identify rattlesnakes by scent, sound and sight, and know how to avoid snakes through exposure to live rattlesnake under the control of an experienced handler. The cost of the training is $100 and is not a regular class offering. So make sure to take advantage to save vet bills of over $300. Sign up September 12th for the clinic. If you miss this clinic, the Durango Kennel Club intends to bring it back next spring. Miller Middle School staff and students will move to the new Miller Campus on September 24th after starting the 2024 25 school year at Durango High School. Friday, September 20th will be the last day of classes at DHS and the Impact Career Innovation Center. Over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Miller staff, district facilities and moving staff will pack materials from DHS and move them to the new Miller campus. Monday, September 23rd will be a staff day to allow staff to unpack and move in. No school for Miller students. Classes will resume in the new building September 24th. A grand opening will be announced after the move in date to celebrate the new building. Our Own Lives, a new nonprofit that is dedicated to empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southwest Colorado is hosting Customized Employment open houses this month. Customized Employment is an evidence-based process that matches job seekers with disabilities to local businesses. Matching the job seekers' unique strengths and businesses' needs. Our Own Lives invites local employers to the events on September 19th and 24th to learn how to create inclusive opportunities within their businesses. Senator Hickenlooper Tours New Nursing Training Facility at Fort Lewis College

Olympians Return Home

Aztec Development Gets Grant Funding
