Results from the 2023 Community survey were released last week, and residents overall indicated appreciation for the natural environment and recreational opportunities in Durango, while at the same time expressing concern over general affordability and cuing in the holiday season. I'm Gillian Arwine Wine Visit Durango is excited to announce the upcoming premiere of its, send it like a local film on Friday, November 18th. The film showcases the Never Summer Snowboards Pro team alongside locals Cam Weekly, Brett Summers, Jackie Summers, Dave Subnet, mark Daley, and many more locations ranging from a night shoot at Chapman Hill Park Parks and the San Juan back country. The film is a veritable showcase of Durango's ski and snowboard terrain culture and talent. Tickets for the premier at Animus City Theater are free and can be found online. The event is for any snow ski and snowboard lover 21 years and older. Results from the 2023 City of Durango community survey were presented at last week's city council meeting. The survey which was sent out to 3000 households is part of an effort to establish benchmarks on livability according to residents, and will be conducted every two years to measure the city's progress with offered programs and services. The survey aims to offer a comprehensive look at residents priorities and Durango's strengths and weaknesses. Highlights of the survey showed that residents of Durango appreciate the natural environment and recreational opportunities in the area and feel they experience a high quality of life. Residents overall feel safe and noted. Alternative forms of transportation are a community strength. However, residents did indicate concern about general affordability and individual economic outlook. Find out more information and view the results from the survey at the City of Durango's website. Ring in the holidays with Santa at Buckley Park. Friday, November 24th. The annual event will start at 5:30 PM with free hot chocolate cookies and the annual lighting of the downtown lights and Christmas tree this year. Anyone who shops or dines downtown on the 24th will be entered into a drawing for a $400 gift card, two $250 gift cards and a $100 gift card. Before joining Santa. Help him round up his reindeer. Bring the kids and pick up the scavenger hunt card from the welcome center or print it out online and find six of the reindeer at
Downtown stores and businesses. The first 50 cards signed by businesses and brought to Singing with Santa will receive a free mug. Don't forget to pack a camera.
