AS THOUSANDS OF WORKERS LOSE THEIR JOBS AND BUSINESSES STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, SOUTHWEST COLORADO HUMAN SERVICE AGENCIES AND NON-PROFITS ARE STRUGGLING TO COPE WITH THE DEMANDS FOR HELP. YOU'RE WATCHING THE LOCAL NEWS NETWORK, BROUGHT TO YOU BY ANIMAS MOUNTAIN MORTGAGE. I'M WENDY GRAHAM SETTLE. UNITED WAY AND THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SERVING SOUTHWEST COLORADO HAVE CONTRIBUTED 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO A FUND THAT WILL BE USED TO HELP AREA NON-PROFITS HELP SOUTHWEST COLORADO RESIDENTS HIT HARD BY THE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN CAUSED BY THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. EACH AGENCY CONTRIBUTED 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO KICK-START FUNDING FOR THE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND. BRIGGEN WRINKLE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, SAID THE FUNDING WILL BE USED TO HELP WITH HUMAN-SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS THAT ADDRESS FOOD INSECURITY, ESPECIALLY FOR YOUTH AND OLDER ADULTS; RENT AND MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE, UTILITY ASSISTANCE, AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES.
