Bright and early every Saturday morning during the summer, come join local food and craft vendors at the Durango Farmers Market in TBK Bank. Pick up some fresh lettuce, radishes, mushroom, and perhaps a hat or cake, all the while enjoying live music, community fun, and support your local farmers while you’re at it. This story is sponsored by The Norm Phillips Team, at Draper & Kramer Mortgage and the law firm of Downs, McDonough, Cowan & Foley, LLC
After a couple of seasons in western Washington, I'm really excited to be back at the market and connecting with the Durango community again after a couple of years away, just post pandemic and the sort of like transition back. It's really nice to be here seeing folks.

The Durango Farmers Market happens every summer at the TBK Bank parking lot downtown. We have a number of vendors every year. We primarily support the local agricultural production, so farmers and ranchers have priority at the farmers market. But then we also encourage all food producers that are within our five county radius of La Plata County, Montezuma, Archuleta San Juan County, Colorado, and San Juan County, New Mexico. And then we also accept artisans from that same geographic region.
Honestly, it's just great to be back at the market. It's such a great energy here, so many amazing vendors and just a lot of great customers that we get to see week and week after again. We've got a lot of greens. We've also got some root crops. We do radishes, turnips. Right now, we've got a lot of different lettuce heads, salad mix, arugula, spinach. We've got some carrots coming on, coming in this season.
We're here with Animas River Farms. We are just a couple miles north of town between here and Trimble. For now, we have a couple of kinds of mushrooms, and later in the year we're going to do tomatoes and herbs.
Since we have five rows, it's kind of a lot to be able to communicate between customers and vendors. And we wanted to find an easy way to be able to communicate where people are. So we have named our rows. We also have a map on our website now. We have Pepper Place. We have Dandelion Drive. We have Calle Cabrita. We have Calendula Court and Sage Street. Also offer lots of different vouchers for buying items at the farmers market. If you show up to the market and you run out of cash and you want to buy something from a vendor that can't run a credit card, please come down to the information booth. We are able to run credit cards and debit cards and offer you a $5 voucher called a market buck. You do not have to pay any ATM fees for that. They are good to spend with absolutely any vendor at our market. And the thing I'm really looking forward to is just seeing how it all unfolds. And I love the farmers market. I used to be a vendor here selling vegetables years ago, and I'm so glad to be back and I'm just excited to be here, enjoying with everybody and part of the community.
And we will hold market every Saturday all the way until the end of October. The last Saturday in October is the 29th. We start market 8 a.m. and we go until 12 noon. For the month of October, We do start an hour later at 9 a.m. because we don't really want to sell you a frozen pumpkin. We have the website which is www.durangofarmersmarket.com. We also have a Facebook page which is Durango Farmers Market, and an Instagram page, which is Durango Farmers.
