Last month, the Ignacio Future Farmers of America Chapter received a $2,602 grant from the Grants for Growing program. The program sponsored by Tractor Supply Company provides grants to FFA chapters for the development and improvement of agricultural education projects. Ignacio FFA will use the grant to create a large chicken coop at the school farm. The collaborative project with the school will partner ag classes with the wood manufacturer class to build the 16 foot by 10 foot shed to hold a variety of poultry. Ag students will then be able to create supervised agricultural experiences, and it might lead to the collaboration with the community on the sale of eggs and meat from the poultry-raised shed. Come meet the candidates running for tribal council seats on Thursday, October 17th at the Sky Ute Casino Resort Event Center at 6:00 PM. The event is open to Southern Ute tribal members only, and will also be broadcasted live on KSUT Radio and virtual attendance via WebEx. Contact Summer Baggett for more information on the event and how to register for virtual attendance. Have some leftover paint from a project last summer that you dunno how to get rid of?
