Ignacio School District returns to school on August 19th, with school sports starting August 12th. Take advantage of back-to-school events and resources at the Ignacio Community Library, including online resources for teachers and homeschooling parents. This fall will also see a return of after-school events at the library. The Ignacio Chile Fest returns for the eighth year at the end of the month, and the La Plata County Humane Society is offering free spay/neuter for pets from select zip codes. By Hannah Robertson. The start of school is just a couple of weeks away, so make sure your student is registered for the new school year. Ignacio Community Library is ready for the school year with online resources for students and parents, and a return of some favorite group programs. The eighth annual Green Chili Fest, hosted by the Ignacio Chamber of Commerce returns at the end of the month. And for some zip codes, the La Plata County Humane Society is offering free spay/neuter for pets. Ignacio Community Library is ready for back to school with a variety of programs, resources, and more to support teachers, students, and families. For teachers and homeschooling parents, the library is offering Education Station, a digital resource with full curricula for all students and subjects ranging from pre-K through fifth grade. There is also a full library of other online resources that offer subjects and classes through high school. After school activities, like Wednesday's Teen Club and Silly Science will return in September, and don't forget the monthly Teen Night on September 23rd. Just because the summer reading program has come to an end, don't delete the Beans Stock app just yet. Reading Challenge Programs will return this fall to encourage everyone to keep reading during the busier school months. Ignacio School District goes back to school on August 19th. Online registration is now open. For returning students and families, log onto the Infinite Campus portal to make sure everything is in order. New students and families, follow the online prompts to make a new account in Infinite Campus to register your student. On August 15th, there will be an open house from 4:30 to 7:00 PM for students at the elementary, middle, and high school. The first day of Goul Athletics is August 12th. Make sure you have all your paperwork and physical ready before the fall season starts. Come join the Ignacio Chamber of Commerce for the eighth annual Green Chili Fest on Saturday, August 31st. The event will feature live music, local vendors, and lots of green chili. Hone your skills and recipe at the Perfecting Your Almost Perfect Green Chili Sauce class at the ICL on Thursday, August 29th. La Plata County Humane Society is offering free spay/neuter to anyone living in the 81122, 81137, and 81326 area codes. Space is limited, so sign up online to reserve a spot. The benefits includes pet overpopulation prevention, avoiding the cost of an unwanted litter, and eliminating unwanted behaviors like aggression, wandering, and marking.
